Amazing HD TV - Samsung LN46B750

By Mark Fangue (Del Mar, CA)
After much research both on the internet and in retail stores, the Samsung LN46B750 is absolutely the best TV available. Side by side comparisons with several high ranking brands including Sony leaves no doubt that this is an amazing HDTV.

The transaction with Amazon was easy, the delivery by Pilot was timely, courteous and helpful. Pilot removed my existing Sony and connected all the cables. I did have to purchase an HDMI cable. Since the HD cable box produces 60Hz signals, I felt fine about buying Best Buy's Rocketfish HDMI cable (rated at 120 HZ). The TV is rated at 240 Hz. I will use a different cable when connecting to a Blue Ray player - probably go with Monster's Blu-Ray 1200 cable for the 240 Hz.

Located in North County San Diego and using Time Warner HD cable, the clarity of the HD content is awesome and the non-HD content is still very good.

The stylish Samsung remote control is fine for controlling the TV. However, it is not a universal remote - unless all your connected components are 'Anynet (HDMI-CEC) compatible - none of my other components are. I will probably purchase the Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote.

The TV is located in the corner of my living room that has windows on both adjacent walls. There are no windows exactly opposite the TV. Glare is not a problem and the display is more than bright enough.

Samsung Continues to Shine

By Gadget Guy (Lawrenceville, GA)

I have been a Sony TV fan for years but when I began shopping for HDTVs, it was clear that the torch had been passed to Samsung. Go to a Best Buy or other big box store and look at the screens from 50-100 feet away and you will quickly conclude that Samsung's always have the brighest image. Over a year ago I bought a 62" DLP for the "theater room" in the basement, and just a few weeks ago I picked up the LN46B750 to mount over our fireplace in the family room. I am one of those shoppers that analyzes everything available, reads reviews, etc. and when Amazon offered this new 240Hz model at special $300 discount it was a no-brainer. The B750 is great in all respects -- from picture quality to "extras" like being able to connect to some web-based services via widgets (the wireles adapter is NOT provided). My wife, who usually could care less about any electronic purchase, has even praised such features as screen-displayed caller ID and automtic running of photo screen shows. I shopped for several months for this television and have had absolutely no regrets about its features or performance thus far.

Samsung LN46B750 Review "The delivery was picture perfect"

By F P Cheap (Oakland, CA USA)
We are very satisfied with this 46 inch LCD television. The picture is crisp and natural looking and bright enough for a room with windows completely covering two walls. The set is packed with features. Amazon's was the lowest price.

The delivery was picture perfect. We were notified by e-mail of the time. Then we received a phone call from the shipping company to set up the time and another phone call on the day of delivery. Although Amazon had not promised white-glove delivery, that is exactly what happened. The delivery man took the box up the elevator to our condo, unpacked it, unplugged our old set, set up the new set and made sure it worked. At our request, he took our old set for disposal.

I recommend Amazon and this this model TV (so long as LED backlit models have not come down in price) without hesitation.

Samsung LN46B750 - Good TV with Some Overlookable Issues

By Peter Ly "pdot" (Ventura, CA United States)

This is the first TV I've ever purchased and it's a great buy. I was hoping to read some professional reviews before I bought this, but with the Amazon $300 coupon being a limited time offer and my 6x points (basically a 6% cash back) on my Amazon card ending at the end of this month, I had to take advantage of this opportunity now. I think I made a good choice. Up until I got this TV, I've been using a Dell 24" 2405FPW LCD monitor (really a Samsung screen that still gets more positive reviews than new cheaper 24" Dell LCD monitors).

I don't want/need to repeat most of the positive comments other reviewers have already mentioned, so I'll talk about topics not well covered.

240 Hz Auto Motion Plus: The default setting is "standard." I don't have regular TV, so I connected my PS3 and popped in my Iron Man Blu-Ray disc. I quickly noticed the high quality resolution of my HDTV, but after some moments, I realize how the movie had a TV soap opera look and how some things just didn't seem right. The lighting was more sterile and bright instead of dramatic and when there was a scene where the camera moved, it felt like I was watching a 4:3 formatted pan & scan movie instead of a modern wide-screen movie. After checking out the TV settings (not having a paper manual was a little annoying, but quite a bit of paper was saved, since the PDF version is about 290 pages due to the multi-language versions), I realize that it's the 240Hz AMP that was making my movie experience more TV-like. I tried all the different preset AMP settings (i.e., Off; Clear; Standard; Smooth; Demo, which shows AMP off next to AMP on at the same time), I came to find that I like the "Clear" setting, which is the minimum setting with 240Hz on, the most. The lighting then looked like what I remember from the theater and the scenes still seem smooth and clear. AMP not only gives the appearance of more frames/second, but also more clarity. You'll notice a big difference when you take the time to watch the same scene over and over again with different settings. My guess is that it will probably work best with TV shows that have fast moving scenes and bright lighting like sports programs.

Computer Files: This feature is so cool. Video files which were originally computer-only can now be watched on my TV without any additional hardware. I think this TV can play more versions of MPEG and DIVX than my PS3 can (it says it in the Samsung manual, but I didn't do a side-by-side comparison). I can take an AVI file from my computer, copy it to a USB compact flash disk, then plug it into my HDTV and watch it in the full 46" glory. The remote offers some simple fast forward and rewind capability (the longer you hold down the buttons, the greater it moves forward and backward, respectively) and rewinding doesn't jump as smoothly as forwarding, but it's bearable.

Ethernet Connection: My FiOS modem/router is in my bedroom and my HDTV is in the living room. I couldn't test it, but considering that the wireless module for the Samsung TV is $80, I think I'm going to relocate my router. I wonder if there's a cheaper workaround or if the Samsung USB WiFi module is proprietary.

Remote Control: It is a long controller which makes it a little uncomfortable to use without sliding your hand to reach some buttons and it has an unconventional wing at the bottom of the controller that's there for weight balance. It also feels fragile because it looks shiny and lightweight. More negatives is that the buttons require me to either push them down at a different angle or just with more force. I hope that once I use the controller a little more, the buttons will be more sensitive. Right now, some of the buttons take me two or three times before they register because I am apparently not doing it right.

Delivery Service: I got the usual call about setting up my delivery date and time. They gave me a 4 hour delivery window and the 2 guys came around the end of the first hour, so it wasn't a long wait. There was something on the form I signed about a blue screen test, but they didn't test that for me (maybe it works only with TV reception?) and I didn't see it when I skimmed through the manual either. Basically, they physically set it up, turned it on, and tested some menu options. Not a very scientific test, but I guess they completed their tasks. They didn't stick around to get tipped either. I did stop them to hand them one though.

Ultra Clear Panel: I don't know why the Samsung.com website says that it doesn't have an UCP when it obviously does. The reflection is quite strong and I have very good daylighting in my living room from the windows, so the reflection can be annoying. However, the good viewing angle comes in handy, so I just sit at an angle from the screen (probably 20 degrees), and the reflection from my window goes away. I don't notice any drop in contrast or color quality, so it's not that big of a deal. Also, if you compare this to some of the reflection problems from older CRTs, it seems about the same. The big difference is that there may appear to be more reflection problems b/c this screen is just a lot bigger than most CRTs.

Overall, I am happy with my HDTV. I was very tempted to buy the 52" version, but with the 30% premium over the 46" (currently, the 52" costs 21% more with the most recent limited-time coupon), I rather save the money for when I get a bigger apartment and when 60+" screens are in the best value range.

Awesome Picture - Samsung LN46B750

By Pinto (Austin, TX USA)

The Samsung LN46B750 replaced our 5-year old 46" Samsung DLP. The new Samsung has an incredibly bright and vivid picture. I opted to go with the LN46B750 over the newer Samsung UN46B6000 LED TV due to "screen uniformity" issues related to the edge-lit LED screen mentioned in user reviews. My purchase was based solely on reviews, great past experience with our older Samsung; I did not go to a store to view the TV picture prior to purchasing it. The quality of the picture is just stunning from 1080p video sources like a Blu-ray disc player. HD channels from our local cable provider are also extremely good.

Our TV cabinet is near a very large window with a semi-transparent window shading which made it hard to view our Samsung DLP TV during daylight. The new Samsung B750 LCD can be viewed under these conditions, although its glossy screen reflects the window more than our older Samsung DLP TV (which has a matt finish screen).

Setup was a breeze. Simply placed the TV on the included stand and installed four screws. The stand permits you to swivel the TV. The TV has a glass-like frame, gloss-black rear, and a glass stand with a glossy-black undercoating. This gives the TV a very contemporary look; though, I personally don't fancy gloss-black piano finishes because you can easily see smudges; but, glossy-black seems to be the current trend among TVs.

The TV was a snap to connect to my BD player and cable set-top box using HDMI cables. For "surround sound" I used the Denon DHT-FS3 soundbar home theater system which fit very nicely in front of the TV. (See my customer shared image.) Note you need to run separate digital audio cables to the Denon because it lacks HDMI connectivity.

Ordering/Delivery: I purchased the Samsung B750 using the $275 off Samsung promotion from Amazon. Shipped free of charge; arrived in about a week after placing order. Delivery personnel called in advance to schedule a delivery time window and then 30 minutes prior to delivery. Box delivered inside our room. Note the shipping box is thin, but about a foot wider than the TV due to packaging styrofoam... my initial reaction seeing the width of the box was that I was sent the wrong TV.

In summary, great LCD TV with an awesome picture.

Samsung LN46B750 Flat-panel TV reviews - CNET Reviews
http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/samsung-ln46b750/4505-6482_7-33490658.html

The Good: Reproduces deep black levels; accurate color, commendable picture uniformity for an LCD; very good dejudder processing; extensive feature set with Yahoo Widgets, network streaming and built-in content; solid connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input.

The Bad: Somewhat expensive; benefits of 240Hz difficult to discern; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; no S-Video inputs.

The Bottom Line: The Samsung LNB750 series can't beat the picture quality of the best plasmas and LED-based LCDs, but for a conventional LCD, it's one of the best we've tested.

Samsung LN46B750 Review "This Samsung LCD HDTV is more like a computer"

By Douglas Fitzpatrick (California, Mission Viejo USA)from Amazon.com

I am simply "speechless" regarding the Picture Quality with just a few adjustments out of the box!! This Samsung set is simply gorgeous with it's glossy wet black piano like finish, not to mention how good it looks even when turned off! This set has many real world usable features in store for you, plus a ton of options for customizing the picture to suit your preferences.

You can also tailor the way your set handles the AMP or Auto Motion Plus 240Hz, from ultra smooth while watching sports with 0 motion blurr to a more realistic film like smoothness. This is the first LCD HDTV that I have seen to actually have whiter whites and blacker blacks, until now only plasmas were capable of dark jet blacks and whiter whites!

This Samsung LCD HDTV is more like a computer, instead of a paper manual it comes with a USB 2.0 flash drive (E-Manual) where you just plug it in and you can just scan the manual on your beautiful 46" inch screen. You can also update the firmware version at anytime in the future for added features, bug fixes and maybe even hardware compatibility issues.

The sound I thought was pretty good for a flat panel, the remote is the icing on the cake. The remote is 100% backlit and has a nice glossy finish that fits well in hand. I did a lot of research on just about every HDTV on the market for a whole month and this set has the better picture quality of all the others out there, if you buy this set you won't be disapointed one bit!

Samsung has come a long way in just a short amount of time, there products a hard to beat cost and performance wise! I bought this set from Amazon on Friday and was delivered the following Wednesday, I don't know how Amazon managed that one quick shipment! A big thanks to the shipping company Pilot for their excellent friendly and help for getting it all set-up for me, the whole experience was joyful!

Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch - Beautiful TV

By Anthony Della Fave from Amazon.com

This tv is awesome. The picture quality is amazing. I chose to buy this over the samsung B650 due mainly to aestetics. I disliked the shape and color of the B650 touch of color red. The rectangular framed, touch of color gray was much more appealing to me.

One issue I've seen was unwatchable video tearing and skipping when viewing video files though the Ethernet media center program ( I don't remember the official name of the samsung built in media software.) other than that, connecting my computer to the tv, over DVI-HDMI wrked like a charm, and the clarity is incredible.

Samsung LN46B750-Great TV! Excellent picture quality

By Giant Panda Boy "00MaxSE" (Cleveland, OH) from Amazon.com

Great TV, no problems so far.

The gloss black finish does get dirty easily and leaves finger prints.
Kinda wishing I would've got a 52" too, but overall I highly recommend it!
